LOOSE, LOOSEN, UNLOOSEГлагол loose выступает, как правило, в значении 'отвязывать, развязывать': to loose a dog, to loose a knot. Loosen может взаимозаменяться с loose, однако чаще всего означает 'ослаблять, делать менее стянутым (натянутым)': to loosen a belt, to loosen a screw. Глаголы unloose и unloosen, имеющие отрицательный префикс ип-, совпадают по значению с loose: to unloose, to unloosen (to loose) a dog.Difficulties of the English language (lexical reference) English-Russian dictionary > loose
